Professor Anton Eberhard
Professor Emeritus and Chair of the Power Futures Lab Advisory Board at UCT's Graduate School of Business. With over 35 years of experience in Sub-Saharan Africa's energy sector, Prof. Eberhard specializes in power sector governance, regulatory reform, and renewable energy procurement. He served as founding Director of the Energy and Development Research Centre and was appointed by South Africa's President to chair the Eskom Task Team on restructuring the power sector.
His contributions include serving on South Africa's National Planning Commission, Ministerial Advisory Council on Energy, and the National Electricity Regulator board. A Foundation Member of the Academy of Science of South Africa and member of the Global Commission to End Energy Poverty, he has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications, including three influential books on African power systems. In 2012, he received the SA National Energy Association's award for outstanding contributions to the energy sector.
